Useful for everyone, beginner, pro, DS-10, M01... "In a grand sense, music theory distills and analyzes the fundamental parameters or elements of music—rhythm, harmony (harmonic function), melody, structure, form, texture, etc"

Chord Progression Maps

Please follow this link for a Chord Progression Map for the Key of C

If you wish to visit the home page for Music Theory for Songwriters it is here:

There is a chord map for each of the keys (i.e. one for each note on the piano)

Some of them are very complicated as we have discussed the common '3 Chord Trick' elsewhere in the Music Theory Section.

Start with the Chord C - the rule is you can then move to anywhere on the map and follow the arrows back to C to give your progressions - If you are on korg M01 - try and construct a chord progression based on the map. DS10 users - set up some fast arpeggio patterns or create long sonorous notes using 3 of the drum patches to create your chord or triad.....

This is helpful. I am used to applying theory through means of guitar but when it comes to keys it takes me longer to process these things. This definitely sped things up, thanks.
